Baby-Friendly Food Initiative

Principal Investigator:                            Department:
Dr. Amy Mobley                                     Health Education and Behavior

My project directly analyzes emergency food programs in Alachua County to determine if baby-friendly food items (ie, formula, baby cereal, pureed food) are available for families with young children. The project will also analyze how pantries are working to reach out to families that live further from their base location. This is an important project as existing studies do not analyze what food pantries can do to help families with infants and young children.

About me on the Project

Undergraduate Researcher

I have been a part of this project for about 2 years. I have spent time collecting data by going into the community and learning more about the available resources in local food pantries in Alachua County. Along with that, I also do data analysis in RedCap and assist in interviews with research participants.

About My Research Focus

My research focuses on working with underprivileged communities in Gainesville. Specifically, I have worked in nutritional education in regard to food insecurity and obesity prevention for these families. Working on this research has highlighted the importance of giving back to the community and promoting health for all people.
